]]> After a long winter break, and a lot of training, we are back and ready to bring Taiko to the Kansas City community! We were able to attend a great weekend Midwest Intensive workshop with some of the lovely people from kaDON, including Shoji Kameda! It was an exhausting 2 days of instruction on Katsugi and Naname (slant style) skills and we made some amazing connections with other Taiko troops in the Midwest. We have also updated our classes schedule and are also starting to fill up our performance schedule for the year. We now have an indoor space, at least for a little while, so we can focus more on playing music! 2026 is going to be very exciting! Make sure to check out Classes schedule to find a practice you can attend! We hope to see you out and about in KC!

Hidden Ninja Taiko is excited to announce that 2 of our members have been accepted into Kodo’s Taiko Fundamentals 2025 class! This course "focuses on the fundamentals for fuse-uchi taiko playing, aimed at taiko players of all levels from beginners to advanced performers. Kodo members will use “Tsunagu,” an original Kodo Taiko School Teaching Piece, to show you how to learn new rhythmic phrases, create solos, and more."

  • Taiko drumming methods for fuse-uchi (upright taiko playing)
  • Taiko fundamentals practice
  • Playing new rhythmic phrases, creating solos, and more, through learning Kodo Taiko Teaching Piece “Tsunagu”
